Remembrance Sunday 2023

Today we have rung our bells Half-muffled, whist the church congregation made their way from the Cenotaph in the centre of the village to the church to complete the remembrance service.

To muffle the bells we tie a piece of leather around one side of the clapper, so one of the two bell strikes is muffled giving an ideal somber sound to mark the occasion.

The Bell Ringers were:

November 2023 Haughton Bell Ringing and Service times

Sunday 5th - 2.30pm for a 3pm All Souls Memorial service

Tuesday 7th - 8pm - Practice

Sunday 12th - 11.02am - Ringing (half muffled) while the congregation walks from the Cenotaph (service starts at 10.45am at the Cenotaph)

Tuesday 14th - Practice moved to Thursday

Thursday 16th  - 8pm Practice

Sunday 19th - 5.30pm ringing for 6pm Evening Prayer

Tuesday 21st - 8pm practice

Sunday 26th - No Ringing (8.30am Holy Communion)

Tuesday 28th - 8pm - Plain Bob and Grandsire doubles practice
