Haughton Village News

Purpose of this site

The site of www.thebellringers.org.uk has been online for some years now,  I selected the domain of thebellringers.org.uk instead of haughtonbellringers.org.uk as I ring at several towers and are happy to share the site with them.

The site hasn't particularly been run very efficiently or effectively,  and I've relied traditionally on the Church and Village magazine to communicate to the village.  Unfortunately, the magazine has now ceased in December 2019.

This has prompted me to upgrade the site, making it easier to update, more appealing to the village, and adding an auto email system in place to inform subscribers of any new news.

I want to make it a hub of information for both Ringers and Non-Ringers, making it a site where ringers can discuss their ringing,  pick up and discuss tips, and know what our team in Haughton is up to,  along with our neighboring towers.  Certainly, all ringers are most welcome to join us for 'open' ringing.

I would like it to be a site where villagers and non-ringers can also come to find out why and when we are ringing, when the church services are, and share their news, clubs, and activities with the rest of us.  I am aware of most of the other bell ringing and village sites, Facebook and Instagram pages, I certainly don't want anyone to think I'm 'treading on any toes' more than for us all to work together and complement one another, so our messages and news reaches a wider audience.

If anyone has any news they would like to share please feel free to contact me using the form at the bottom of the page.  If you would like to post about your club or event or tower on a regular basis,  we have the facility for you to self-post your articles.

I think and hope this site will develop and grow with time, who knows what the future holds for it if any.  At the moment it is being written and produced by a few volunteers from the Haughton Bell Ringing team, using free webspace and services, hence no ads.  We hope to keep it that way for the foreseeable future, although we are open to suggestions and if any local organization is in need of any extra cash we may see what we can do.

Please join us and subscribe, and help spread the word.
