Home Worship for Easter 5 - By Rev. Geoff Smith

We call our parishioner to church by ringing our bells. As we have an active team

that rarely miss a service, I haven't got many video's of us ringing. However I have

found a video that was recorded of us ringing for the Olympics in 2012. So if you

are missing the sound of our bells, here they are to start Geoff Smith's service.

(This week we are again including some hymns!

With the help of Trevor and Youtube we are hoping to include some hymns –

so turn the sound on! Hope you found these worthwhile last week)

Alleluia. Christ is risen.

He is risen indeed. Alleluia

Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ

The Ascension Day approaches, when we celebrate the final triumph

of our Lord Jesus Christ’s earthly life

The hymn “Christ is our cornerstone”

Read the Acts of the Apostles Chapter 7 verses 55 to 60

Then pray the Collect of the day

Eternal God, whose Son Jesus Christ is the way,

the truth and he life: grant us to walk in his way, to rejoice in his truth

and to share his risen life, who lives and reigns,

now and for evermore. Amen.

Read the Gospel for the day from St John Chapter 14 verses 1 to 14

Pray the Lord’s Prayer

Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be your name,

your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven.

Give us today our daily bread.

Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.

Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and for ever.

Amen.

Read Psalm 121

Add a few short prayers

Please pray for Julie Elton and the Elton family following the sad death of Mark.

Pray for any others known to you who are ill or very vulnerable, especially any in

Care homes.

Pray for Cath. Brumfit who is to be our new Rector.

She is at present a curate at Wheaton Aston.

Offer any prayers of your own.

Pray this prayer for inward peace

Lord Jesus Christ, you have promised that in you we may have peace, and have encouraged us by you victory over the world: give us ears to hear and faith to receive, your word; that in all the confusions and tensions of this present life, with mind serene and with purpose steadfast, we may continue to trust in you, who died and rose again and is alive for evermore. Amen

The Hymn: Thine for ever God of love

Grant Lord that we may live in your love, die in your favour, rise in your power and reign in your glory, for your own beloved Son’s sake, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

The peace of the Lord be always with you and the blessing the our Lord Jesus Christ

be with you and those you love, this day and always

GEOFF SMITH
