Firstly I would like to thank Reverend Geoffery Smith for his weekly contributions to our website. My intention was to do something similar for our bell ringing practice, but I seem to have not stopped since Lockdown, so I will try a little harder next week. If you are involved in a club or village activity please send in your articles, maybe even have a virtual meeting!
Back to bell ringing....
Today would have been the North Staffs annual Quarter Peal Day. A quarter peal is 1260 changes as a full peal is 5040 changes (the maximum number of changes available on 7 bells).
Quarter peals are excellent for giving ringers a long ringing session (approximately 45 minutes without stopping) and helps the band to gain confidence and rhythm.
Unfortunately, as with most activities, the event has had to be canceled due to the Covid-19 virus. Hopefully, we will be back ringing quarters very soon, I have even threatened a full peal.
