Some thoughts on home worship for TRINITY 3

This week's bell ringing is from Northwood Green Greater London.  I have chosen this clip as they are ringing Plain Bob Doubles a method we often ring at Haughton.

Grace, mercy and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

HYMN: “Praise my soul the king of heaven”

Pray the Collect of the day

O God, whose beauty is beyond our imagining and whose power we cannot comprehend;

show us your glory as far as we can grasp it, and shield us from knowing more than we can bear until we may look upon you without fear, through Jesus Christ our Lord.   Amen.

Read the Epistle from Romans chapter 6 verses 3-11

Read the Gospel from St. Matthew chapter 10 verse 24-39

Hymn: “Take up thy cross the Saviour said”

Offer some Prayers

Pray for your own families, friends, and others whom you wish to remember.

Commend Sian to Gods gracious keeping, and pray for Rici and the family in this time of tragic loss.

Thank God for the lives of Mark, and Trina, (both one time churchwardens) and for Doreen (the wife of a churchwarden)

Pray for Revd. Cath, soon to be our new Rector, and for the future of our parishes and churches, whatever that future may be.

Continue to pray for the sick, especially those known to us, and others who need our prayers at this troubled time.

Pray for our schools who don’t seem to know whether to re-open or not.

Pray for local and small shops now re-opening, but with an uncertain future.

Thank God for your own safety and pray that we may have the courage to grasp the opportunities it brings.

And the Lord’s Prayer

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come,

Your will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us today pour daily bread.

Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.

Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom and the power and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

This Sunday is often observed as sea Sunday. Pray this prayer for all seafarers

O Lord our heavenly Father we commend to your keeping all who sail the seas.

Enrich them with your presence, guard them in danger, protect them in temptation,

sustain them in loneliness and support them in sickness and anxiety.

Bless those who minister to them and guide us all to the haven of eternal life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

HYMN: “Eternal Father strong to save”

The God of all grace who called you to his eternal glory in Jesus Christ establish, strengthen and settle you in the faith. Amen

Just a thought: As we approach July 4th – is the opposite of lockdown, lockup? I suspect that what many of us have felt over the past three months – locked up!
