Some thoughts on home worship for EASTER 3

Alleluia. Christ is risen.
He is risen indeed. Alleluia
Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ

We are in the post Easter period, the great forty days, until the Ascension Day,
when we celebrate the after the resurrection appearances of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Read the story of the visit to Emmaus on the first Easter night from
St. Luke chapter 24 verse 13 to verse 35

Then pray the Collect of the day
Almighty Father, who in your great mercy gladdened the disciples with the
sight of the Risen Lord: give us such knowledge of his presence with us, that we
may be strengthened by his risen life and serve you continually in righteousness
and truth:
Through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Pray the Lord’s Prayer
Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and for ever.  Amen.

Read  from the Acts of the Apostles chapter 2 verse 14 then verses 22 to 32.

Add a few short prayers
Pray especially for Mark and Julie Elton and those caring for Mark in the ICU at the
Royal Stoke hospital.
Pray for Dennis Wheatcroft and family following the death of Doreen in hospital
following a serious fall.,.
Pray for any others known to you who are ill or very vulnerable, especially any in
Care homes.
Pray for Cath. Brumfit who is to be our new Rector. She is at present a curate at
Wheaton Aston.
Offer any prayers of your own.
Pray this prayer
(It was issued in October 1975 by Donald Coggan, then Archbishop of
Canterbury in ‘A call to the nation’. Donald Coggan was, in 1956, the
Theological College principal who accepted me for theological training!)

God bless our nation, Guide our Rulers,
Give us power that we may live cheerfully,
Care for each other and be cheerful in all we do.  Amen

The peace of the Lord be always with you and the blessing the our Lord
Jesus Christ be with you and those you love, this day and always
