home worship for EASTER 4

Some thoughts on home worship for EASTER 4
(This week we are trying something new! With the help of Trevor and Utube we are
hoping to include some hymns – so turn the sound on!)

Alleluia. Christ is risen.
He is risen indeed. Alleluia
Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ

We are still in the post Easter period, the great forty days, until the Ascension Day,
when we celebrate the after the resurrection appearances of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Hymn: Loving shepherd of thy sheep

Read the Acts of the Apostles Chapter 2 verses 42 to 47
Then read Psalm 23

Then pray the Collect of the day
Merciful Father, you gave your Son Jesus Christ to be the good shepherd,
and in his love for us to lay down his life and rise again.
Keep us always under his protection, and give us grace to follow in his steps;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.    Amen.

Read the Gospel for the day from St John Chapter 10 verses 1 to 10

Pray the Lord’s Prayer
Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and for ever.  Amen.

Add a few short prayers
Pray especially for Mark and Julie Elton and those caring for Mark in the
ICU at the Royal Stoke hospital.
Pray for any others known to you who are ill or very vulnerable,
especially any in Care homes.
Pray for Cath. Brumfit who is to be our new Rector. She is at present a
curate at Wheaton Aston.

Offer any prayers of your own.

Pray this prayer
Keep us, good Lord under the shadow of your mercy in this time of uncertainty.
Sustain and support the anxious and the fearful, and lift up all who are brought low;
that  we may rejoice in your comfort knowing that nothing can separate
us from your love.
In Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen

The peace of the Lord be always with you and the blessing the our
Lord Jesus Christ be with you and those you love, this day and always

The hymn  “Father, hear the prayer we offer”.
