We were all very sadden to hear Margaret Jones of Stafford passed away last week. I first remember meeting both Margaret and Selwyn at a North Staffs Association training session held at Eccleshall in the mid nineties, and I would then see them at the monthly Saturday afternoon meetings. Although Haughton isn't that far from Stafford, it wasn't until I moved to the town that I became a regular visitor to St Mary's where both Margaret and Selwyn had rung for many years, Selwyn as captain. They both very much included me within their team.
I've rung one peal and many quarters with Margaret. Over the years she had many roles within the North Staffs Association, but more recently she would organise a monthly 12 bell practice at Newcastle, where I gained most of my experience ringing on higher numbers. Margaret has also helped and rung with most members of our Haughton team.
During our Zoom Meeting tonight, we've dedicated a plain course of Grandsire Doubles to Margaret, https://bb.ringingworld.co.uk/view.php?id=1425207 as the Covid-19 restrictions are still in place and are unable to ring in the tower.
Rest in Peace Margaret
